Late Night Tales MGMT

Late Night Tales have the happy knack of choosing interesting and imaginative artists for their afterhours compilations – and a chance to peek behind the workings of Brooklyn duo MGMT is simply too good to resist. The contents are logical – Suicide, Julian Cope and Velvet Underground all make good sense, as do the Durutti Column and Bauhaus, but as might have been hoped the duo reveal some much less well known loves, such as Felt’s ‘Red Indians’ and Disco Inferno’s ‘Can’t See It Through’. The format may be very familiar, but MGMT impose their own personalities on Late Night Tales – which means it can never be fully predicted or taken for granted. The added dash of psychedelia tops it off nicely.
