Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare really were the toast of the town producers in the late 70’s & early 80’s, their smooth skanking services were used by big pop stars such as Grace Jones, Ian Dury & The Rolling Stones. However, what we’ve got here is a celebration of their own Taxi label & the impact it made on their native Jamaica, then the rest of the world, 14 cuts of the rhythm twins, getting it on with The Tamlins, Gregory Isaacs, The Viceroys, Dennis Brown & Sugar Minot amongst others. If you haven’t got a copy of The Tamlins “Smiling Faces”, then you need this album.
