Bedrock showcase compilations always seem to meet a consistently high standard, and this selection of ten for Miami is no different, delivered in unmixed form under the watchful eye of label head John Digweed. A mood of ambience is set to the firm beats of Sirenize’s opener, ‘Everybody’, while Stelios Vassiloudis capitalises on last year’s exceptional debut album ‘It Is What It Is’ with two tracks. Perhaps the best track here, though is Maher Daniel & Casa’s ‘Music, Machines & Life’, driven by an insular but very cleverly worked riff that goes round in circles over the tough beats. With a new Guy J track to enjoy, and material from Robert Babicz and Wehbba, this is another ultimately desirable package from Bedrock that brings the summer that bit closer.
