Nobody Knows Anything – DFA Presents Supersoul Recordings
Supersoul

Supersoul is the label owned by Xaver Naudascher and is based in Berlin – and here gets some welcome exposure thanks to DFA, releasing their first compilation. It’s clear a lot of the music here is based on the fundamentals of modern dance music – disco, early house and electro feature heavily in tracks from Naudascher himself, Skatebard and the two parts of Mogg & Naudascher’s excellent ‘Moon Unit’, tightly structured and finely blended techno. Naudascher’s ‘Motor City’ impresses with its rolling drums, while the fourth part of ‘Moon Unit’ features an emotive vocal from Rosalind. It’s easy to see why DFA picked this up, as the styles of music here aren’t a million miles from Messrs Murphy, Goldsworthy or Juan MacLean, and make for a high quality compilation.
