If it’s Autumn then it’s time for another blissful instalment in Jazzanova’s ‘Secret Love’ series, the compilation set that’s introduced us to a whole wave of quiet electronica and lightly quirky folk music. Not that the Berliners’ choices have ever been that easy to pigeon hole, as once again their approach is open minded. Here the jewels in the crown are the gorgeous string parts of Quiet Village’s ‘Broken Promises’, Lars Bartkuhn’s wonderfully layered ‘In Harmony With The Elements’, the subtle funk of The Rubies’ ‘I Feel Electric’, with Feist on vocals, and Woolfy vs Projections’ ‘Absynth’, the perfect slow disco jam. As ever with this series, a voyage of discovery awaits, in a volume that’s every bit as good and revealing as the previous four.
