There are house compilations that go through the motions, that build up to a satisfying mix over an hour. This isn’t one of them. Sander Kleinenberg is a DJ who improves with every release, and his latest is his best pair of mixes yet, right on the money the whole way through. CD1 (‘Left’) is especially hot, quickly hitting a high with Solomun & Stimming’s ‘Feuervogel’, and is then laced with funk as it gets to some cracking instrumental cuts, topped off with the excellent vocal from Marida in DBN’s ‘Asteroidz’. As if that wasn’t enough, Sander comes out fighting for a more aggressive CD2, with hard hitting stuff from Joseph Indelicato & Jose Velez, a big breakdown from Lutzenkirchen and upfront vocals from Stardom Groove. Two outstanding mixes and one outstanding DJ – by some distance the best house compilation I’ve listened to so far this year.
