Each compilation from this remarkable label seems to push the electro form that bit further into previously-unchartered territory. The latest applies a blow-torch to its bottom, singeing the space-suit over nine tracks of advanced space-funk while somehow, even miraculously, never losing sight of the original b-boy roots. Berlin’s Bogger kicks things off with a beatless throb and tickling atmospherics before chattering beats appear and we’re off with both familiar names [Bitstream, Ben Milstein/Doctor Evil] and newcomers [Jeff Pils, b0t23]. Also here is Dave Paton, aka weedjs and Armando Martinez appearing for the first time as Alpha 606 with Sync 24 on the 808 clatter of ‘Warped Juice’. Every track’s a winner, maybe Bitstream taking the space-cake with their ethereal extra dimensions, losing the beats completely on ‘Gaswork Mushroom’. So genuinely far ahead it’s frightening.
