Sparo joins the cut & paste realm populated by mischievous beat mechanics hell-bent on stuffing as much black plastic into as little space as possible. The Killer Meters man takes the oath of ploughing through bountiful amounts of archive funkiness (Dennis Coffey, Sly & The Family Stone), soundbites, scratches and self-promotion, hip-hop both vintage (Big Daddy Kane, Ultramagnetic MCs) and vanguard (Edan, Foreign Beggars), and whatever else fits the bill (Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix). Basically it’s your everyday mix rollercoaster, bouncing from pillar to post with few surprises, but it’s still done very well.
