Giant Cuts Vol. 2
Giant Cuts

Here’s a wonderfully retro disco EP of re-edits and refashions skilfully made to bridge the generation divide and quench the thirst of the ever curious nu disco market. Hot on the heels of the equally essential first volume, that was a Juno bestsellers and won fans young and old, comes this even hotter 4-tracker. First up is ‘The Choice’ built around the hook from Lenny Williams’ 1977 boogie jam ‘Choosing You’. ‘Sugar Honey’ uses the break from Brenda & The Tabulations impossible-to-find cosmic disco raw n’ gritty ‘Let’s Go All The Way (Down)’, while the sublime ‘Prove It’ is a killer re-edit of Ned Doheny’s 1981 rare groove favourite ‘To Prove My Love’. Things are neatly rounded off with the chunkier ‘Pay Rise’ with some killer slap bass and disco licks courtesy of Flowchart’s French fried funker ‘Ask The Boss’. Essential stuff we say.
