There’s a veritable plethora of new material out right now featuring Roland Clark’s angelic vocals: be it under his Urban Soul guise, his pulpit-pounding spoken testimonies to the power of the groove, or, as in this particular instance, smoothly delivered in song. ‘Flowerz’, his soul-seductive 1999 top 20 UK hit with Armand Van Helden, is now re-recorded for a reissue on his own imprint. It’s jazzy, oozing of live musicianship (with a great double-bass and some slick rhythm-smart percussion) that perfectly suits the timeless charm of the song.
