With his third number for the label Emanuel Satie delivers more in the way of tough, unforgiving music that surprises you at every turn. Take the opening, ‘Free’ which sequences edgy Acid bass together with funky hi-hats, gritty synth lines and are then contrasted by deliciously soulful vocals. ‘Bottoms Up’ continues the suspense with pumping beats, treated voices and a whole lot of attitude, leaving the self-fulfilling prophecy of ‘On Repeat’ to complete via breathy vocals and rhythmic percussion feeling addictively Tribal as the addition of commanding keyboard stabs adds even more colour to the mood.
