Crosstown continue on their mission with this great release from Bloc Party vocalist Kele Okereke. Candy Flip, is as much about the infectious, raw-edged bassline as it is about the tense vocal delivery – both of which are hot. The remix comes care off FCL – good in its own right – though unfortunately drops the original bass in favour of squelchy synths and syncopation while stripping back the vocals. Second track, The New Feel contains the clue in the title as dark, moody notes fizz powerfully alongside crisp beats that crescendo amid a wash of emotive pads. And finally, Come To Me featuring Jenny Bastet’s breathy words over commanding chords and rough kick drums completes this evidently exciting release.
