MICHOACAN
2 BULLETS EP
US GRAYHOUND

A new signing to this West Coast label, and even from the opening bars of “2 Bullets (Disaster)”, it’s pretty darned obvious why they picked this release up. Electro, disco and new-wave jostle together in an edgy manner, Michoacan’s self-penned and sung lyrics sounding uncannily close to a certain Talking Heads era David Byrne. Along side this gem, we also get “Don’t Walk Away”, still firmly in New York territory, with a wink and a nod to labels like Balihu and Environ in it’s unique discoid stylings. Finally, “Broken Heart” is pure outer-space boogie, zoned out on a keyboard riff sharp enough to cut yourself on. A fantastic release – just buy it.
