Ben Camp & Mat Leutwyler aka Speedcats, have teamed up with fellow Philadelphian guitarist Owen Jarvis for this release and the results are quite simply stunning. ‘Speedcats’ opens with live & programmed drums, then in comes the first of the very atmospheric riffs, riding on a warm familiar sounding bassline, bringing on mixed feelings of floating ecstatic highs & distant desperate lows. As it builds in subtle layers the overall draw leaves you totally sucked in, leading to the intricate breakdown before rising up with the added boost of a lead guitar, then it dive bombs like a shot down plane, before finally bursting into full blown colour as it lights up the night sky. ‘Speedcats’ has definitely got a U2 ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ feel to it. Now if somebody put the right vocal on it!
