Glasgow’s Union Of Knives have already got all the right people at radio frothing over their epic sound. The ‘I Decline EP’ is only the second release from Union Of Knives, and it’s just so obvious why this threesome are causing such a fuss. The title track ‘I Decline’ comes on like Joy Division / New Order meets Doves meets U2, a dance rock hybrid of gigantic proportions on a sweeping roller coaster ride of emotional turmoil. ‘Go Back To School’ takes a leaf out of Radiohead’s book, and works in a few Massive Attack elements, resulting in a fine slice of majestic damnation, and ‘s Sweetheart’ has a certain Grandaddy innocence about it, floating on an Icelandic Sigur Ros air current. Can’t wait to hear their debut album.
