LUX GROOVE – GEE UP (DIRTYBIRD SELECT) (18/11)

Lux Groove has already released on Dirtybird in the form of a collaboration with Mark Starr and their cut ‘That’s What.’ Now he gets a full leg up with an EP of his own and really comes corrects with two tantalising cuts of booty shaking ghetto fried house music. No doubt informed by the man’s background of working as a regular on the DMC circuit, he is a perfect fit for this label.

Up first is Gee Up, a barrelling house cut with bass lines so fat you can almost reach out and grap them. The hi hats and slinky and sharp and pressured vocals add real tension as they roll up through the mix. By the time it all comes together with some acid, the whole thing is a real banger. On the flip, Ride Low then builds in similarly sleazy fashion, with tumbling bass notes and brain frying synths raining down from above. Its meaty and macho and sure to blow minds and shake asses when dropped in the right moment of any set.
