All I can say is PHWOAR! at this slice of total perfection which sees Spooky doing what they’ve always done best: craft deceptively simple electronic riff-vehicles which, thanks to their innate sense of dynamics and the emotions which shoot through the music, emerge roof-raising masterpieces. Last year Charlie and Duncan returned to the fray with the re-release of Gargantuan and their Open album. Having also co-written and produced Sasha’s Involver 2 album they took off on a US club tour with Candy emerging as a guaranteed roof-raiser when dropped. It does hark back to their early landmarks but drop-kicked into the 21st century and blessed with their years of experience, meaning they’re deadlier than ever. If that wasn’t enough, James Zabiela’s remix takes it somewhere else entirely; deep, spaced and quite beautiful with assorted twists and turns. Once again, PHWOAR!
