A game of two halves, this – one’s a master mix, while the other starts slowly but gets into gear later on. That’s the Nu Breed mix, taking a while to get things moving, but by the D.Ramirez mixes of Plump DJs (‘Electric Disco’) and Future Funk Squad (‘Audio Damage’) the beats are well and truly on top. No such problems with King Unique, whose organic mix presents some cracking grooves from Booka Shade, Steve Bug, Sascha Funke and Andrea Doria. And if that sounds like predictable repertoire, think again – he mixes them with some aplomb in one of the best sets of darkly coloured house you’ll hear this year.
