ADD NOISE
TROPICALIA
EARSUGAR BEATBOX

The gush of twelves from Add Noise assuming the regularity of an incontinent tortoise’s bottom has been one of the more pleasurable aspects of dance music recently. ‘Surface Noise, ‘Citronella’ and now this pair which billowed forth within three weeks of each other. They start up then go off on organic, winding paths which ebb and flow into a gripping panorama of riffs, melodies and effects. They claim to be influenced by early Carl Craig and Lee Perry’s late 70s affairs [when his sound went squelchy and hallucinogenic]. Certainly, but you can also hear Basic Channel, Nu-Groove and classic old school acid house with that same spirit of exploring and stumbling on dancefloor nirvana. ‘Tropicalia’ hoists up Fingers Inc but that’s only the surface. Below is a garden of unearthly delights. ‘Eschuche Y Repita’ manages to turn woodblocks into a main riff, joined by acid, disembodied conversation and a rattling, lysergic undergrowth which  runs and runs. A unique feel and flavour here.
