THE DROYDS
EP 1
NEW RELIGION

After a brief sabbatical during which Richard Norris has reformed the Grid, the God Made Me Hardcore uber-sleaze electro dons the Droyds have reformed and signed to EMI’s New Religion imprint. The Droyds were a gloriously sleazy celebration of future-sex disco dancing and piss-taking of old standards but Richard and partner Andy Chatterley’s new stuff takes a more serious slant on their new, self-composed material like the yearnsome ‘All I Ever Wanted’ and classical electro-pop of  ‘Modern Life’. NY’s early 80s electro-disco mutant boogie gets explored on the sublime ‘Heartbeat’, while full realisation of the Jarre-Faltermeyer soundtrack obsession emerges on the atmospheric ‘Ain’t Got Time’. One of the best things is, they don’t take themselves too seriously and it’s a welcome return.
