Germany’s enthusiasm for electronic music goes back a long way and some of the young techno producers of today are unquestionably hinting at the experiments of the seventies. After their rich eponymous album and the surprise hit that was ‘Mandate My Ass’ come some remixes of Le Dust Sucker’s ‘Mean Boy’. Anders Ilar’s turns out a floaty re-interpretation that’s like Tangerine Dream in industrial mood with breakbeats (125 BPM). On a different tip, rising producer Dominik Eulberg goes 4/4 and turns out a deep, druggy rendition that’s kinda catchy with its soulful female vocal snippet (125). Receptor brings an altogether more minimal approach to electro-techno with three tracks on a similar tip to Richie Hawtin’s recent experiments bordering on ‘concrete music’.
