SECRET FREQUENCY CREW
THE BLACK MOSS EP
TOUCHIN’ BASS

It’s an accepted fact that Andrea Parker’s Touchin’ Bass label provides a home for the world’s most forward-thrusting electro but, after this outing from the enigmatic Miami-based outfit, maybe that should read electronic music in general. Four tracks here come from their Forest Of  The Echo Downs album, released on Miami’s Schematic label. They’re cinematic, melancholy, unpredictable, warped and subtly funky in a muted kind of way, recalling anything from electronic composers like John Cage to tinkling Velvet Underground ballads. They also prove that electro was never supposed to be endless variations on the ‘Planet Rock’ beat. As a bonus there’s an exclusive non-album track called ‘Ghost In The Bayou’, which takes it even further out into the radioactive swamp. For a bunch of reputed couch potatoes, this is fairly remarkable stuff.
