Depeche Mode wasn’t just a British suburban cult, early on in their career the Basildon four had a big impact in Europe too as you can hear in the latest solo production of Germany’s Phil Fuldner. ‘I Don’t Care’ also recalls er, Thompson Twins and its redhead vocalist Tom Bailey but fear not this is an infectious slice of romo electro-disco that is, yes, very pop and very gay (126 BPM). Pal Moguai usually excels in a different league where powerful breakbeats collide enthusiastically with raw guitars and sharp synths. However his collaboration with 2 Raumwohnung is a refreshing electro-pop song with a discreet rock twist (live bass and guitar). Think a less eccentric Goldfrapp with a solid song to boot (130).
