On this third single Camp Actor come across as grungey Simple Minds with electro-goth overtones and enough sparkle to stand-out from the crowd. ‘This Is Not New York’, which comes in three versions, offers raw breakbeats, layers of relentless synths & guitars and the distinctive urgency of a Jim Kerr soundalike who turns out an impressive delivery, full of spirit and verve. The underlying political angle of the song is a bonus in this day and age. A couple of remixes on offer but the dramatic original makes the most sense (129 BPM).
