London electronic duo Subway have already impressed on Sunday Best and are also making their intoxicating creations available through Word & Sound Germany and their Threetone imprint. This is the third and it’s a corker. ‘Lizard’ revolves around a chattering liquid sequence which somewhat recalls Kraftwerk translated through Cybertron in feel but takes on its own bubling life as the track progreesses. ‘Patterns’ rides an early 80s electro-boogie groove underpinned by Moroderesque lope. As new elements appear, the sound becomes warmer via deep pads overlaid by intricate counter-lines. The whole affair is shot with soul and creativity, adding to Mick and Alan’s growing reputation as one of electronic music’s purest new talents.
