Drum’n’bass don Dj Friction is releasing his debut breaks mix on Passenger, an eventful affair that takes no prisoners as this sampler 12” will testify. ‘Machine’ instantly stands out in Friction’s mix with its relentless Morodesque bline and disorienting bleeps. No doubt Tom Real & The Rogue Element have long been pushing the boundaries of breaks and here they score one more goal. By comparison ‘Gurn Face’ sounds a little dark and over-familiar – but is a good rave-up nevertheless.
