Originally out in the summer of 2007, Binary Chaffinch’s “False Energy” was like some hybrid creature from another planet, combining krautrock, italo disco and acid with a no-wave vocal that could have come from any time during 1981, it was like some kind of live clash between the likes Spektrum, Can, and Robotnik. It would probably have been huge but for it’s micro pressing. Thankfully, it’s back, still sounding unbelievably fresh and vital, backed with a stupefyingly good remix from Invincible Scum, who somehow make it sound heavier, spikier and even more intense – think Mad Professor let loose on the Acid Trax back catalogue. Surely an anthem for 2008.
