Back to Mine with Ray Foxx

Outkast – SpottieOttieDopaliscious

From the vocals to the live instrumentation, it doesn’t get much better than this. I’m a massive fan of not only Outkast, CeeLo Green and their crew, The Dungeon Family, but also of their producers Organized Noize. Here they are, plus a heap of guests, at their very, very best.

Rick James – Cold Blooded

This tune pretty much got me back into funk. Rick James is just so unique and talented as both an artist and producer. It was pretty hard picking just one funk tune, my current funk playlist is filled with the likes of Zapp, D Train, George Clinton, Kool & The Gang, The O’Jays, the list goes on!

Chaka Khan – Ain’t Nobody

Hands down one of the best and most uniquely produced tunes in my opinion. Rufus smashed it with this! It’s a tune that taught me a lot about writing and producing music and has one of my favourite all time grooves.

Jamie Woon – Skin

I saw Jamie Woon live this year and he is every bit as good as his records; uncompromising and captivating. Skin is a song with amazing harmonies which makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

To Be In Love (MAW ’99 Mix) – Masters At Work ft. India

Straight up this is my favourite house tune. The song and the music is amazing, it’s all brought to life by a group of talented musicians and the awesome India. I can listen to this over and over again.

Aaliyah – Try Again

Along with the likes of Just Blaze and Dr Dre, Timbaland is one of the producers that made me want to take making music seriously when I was younger. His music ooses personality with no compromise and you can spot a Timbaland record a mile off. Listening to his many amazing productions always reminds me to be myself and have fun!

Jimi Hendrix – Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

Wow! Before synths and dance music I was in love with the guitar and Hendrix was my number one. My first and only guitar teacher refused to teach me after I kept try to play this song! He never played the same song the same way twice and seemed to almost make the guitar talk!

Sia – Little Man (Exemen Works Remix)

I am a big garage fan, so it was hard for me to pick one garage tune that I like to listen to, but like Timbaland, Wookie (under the alias Exemen) has such a distinctive sound and uncompromisingly puts so much personality across in his music. Those steel drums. That bass line!

The Prodigy – Fire Starter

For me, ‘The Fat Of The Land’ was like an instruction manual on how to make electronic music using a sampler! It’s a killer album and this is easily my favourite track. Soooooo much energy and the vocals match the beat so well.  This has such a unique sound and is such a head banger!

Noisia – The Tide

This tune apparently took Noisia six months to make and I can believe it. I don’t think they could have made it any better and to me it’s their masterpiece! Because of many tunes like this, they are known as ‘the producer’s producer’ and I hope they keep making tracks like this for many years to come. Catch me at the next Noisia live gig or jumping around my living room to this one!
