Back To Mine with diskJokke

Oslo label badabing diskos kicks off with a massive dancefloor treat from legendary Norwegian producer diskJokke. Known since 2008 for his international escapades with Prins Thomas’s Full Pupp and the Smalltown Supersounds label, diskJokke has also played everywhere from Panoramabar Berlin to Space Ibiza and Liquid Room Tokyo. He has put out three superb long players, remixed indie acts such as Metronomy and The XX and now, after acquiring his Masters in Mathematics, he is back. He has a complex, weird and wonderful take on melodic and cinematic sounds, as proven by this terrific two-tracker.

And here he delves into his selection for a superb Back To Mine 10…

Don Ray – Standing In The Rain
A touch of Cerrone on this, a track full of emotions. One of my all time favourite pieces of music whether at home or in a club.
Don Ray - Standing In The Rain (1978)

Matthew Herbert – The Audience
Multifaceted and multitalented Matthew Herbert released this one on the album Bodily functions which turned my world upside down back in 2001.
HERBERT - The Audience

Pink Rhythm – Melodies of love
This became a favourite while driving in Italy’s mountains quite a few years ago, but has stayed on rotation at home ever since.
Pink Rhythm - Melodies Of Love 1985

Serge Gainsbourg – Melody
Serge is to me the definition of coolness. He adds his own unique touch regardless of genre, on this one he goes woodstock.

Buffy Saint-Marie – He’s a Keeper of the Fire
Canadian folk singer Buffy Sainte-Marie with a piece of music that really awakens all senses. Pure raw hippie power!
He's A Keeper Of The Fire

Nina Simone – It Be’s That Way Sometimes
Relatively early Nina Simone track, I just love the mix of funk and soul and her voice.
Nina Simone -It Be's That Way Sometimes-1967 classic wax

Tornado Wallace feat. Sui Zhen – Today
A more recent favourite. Have been a fan of Tornado Wallace’s club music for years, but this one made it to our living room. Great production and style.

John Lee Hooker – Boogie Chillun
Pure raw repetetive blues from one of the founding fathers of rock. The song is featured briefly in the movie Blues Brothers.
John Lee Hooker - "Boogie Chillun"

Talk Talk – The Rainbow
Perfect rounding off song by one of the world’s most interesting bands. From the album Spirit of Eden, once again completely refusing to be swept off their path by the fame following 80s hit “It’s my life”.
Talk Talk - THE RAINBOW - 1988

Arthur Russell – Thats Us/Wild Combination
Arthur Russell has made many tunes that mean a lot to a lot of people, for us this one is above all. A staple at all gatherings at our house.
Arthur Russell - That's Us/Wild Combination
