Joseph Edmund

Rising star Joseph Edmund is back onboard Hot Creations with the insanely infectious two-track Baewatch, which follows his debut release Dreams To Reality which dropped on the label in 2019. At the tender age of twenty-five, 2021 is set to be the breakthrough year for this promising producer. Spearheading the new wave of up and coming artists, Joseph has already proved his worth with a titan of support from some of the industry’s biggest and most respected DJs, such as Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers and Marco Carola. Delivering arguably one of his strongest releases to date. DMCWORLD jumps in…

Hi Joseph, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. How are you and where are you based at the moment?

Hi, thanks for having me! I’m very well thank you. I’ve been in South America playing in Ecuador and Mexico the past month, it’s been amazing!

The last year has been challenging for everyone. How have you found things and what have you been doing to keep busy?

It has been very challenging for everyone and I think at the start it was strange but overtime I found ways to keep myself focused and generally just took each day at a time…

Your new release Baewatch is out on Hot Creations and we would love to hear more about it. Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind the release and the production process?

So Baewatch came from a lot of 80s music, I love the Michael Jackson and Prince drums so I started to play around with some drum grooves and from there the vibe just came together and the vocals fit perfectly!

You made it to No.1 on Beatport with the massive release Lose your Body on Whippin’ early last year. How did that feel and did you notice it boost your career?

It was a massive accomplishment for me and I’m glad it was received how it was, I feel it really boosted me especially after the last Hot Creations ep.. then the world went into lockdown, typical! Haha but it only motivated me to keep pushing my music and work even harder

The UK has a really strong group of upcoming producers, what are your views on the UK scene?

I love the UK scene. I think it’s massively diverse but with some great quality too, it’s great to see.

What advice would you give to aspiring DJs and producers?

I would say really focus on what you as a person want to hear on the dance floor and make what you truly represent, in the long run it means you will be true to yourself.

If you could play anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

That’s a tough one! I’ll have to say three, Amnesia terrace, DC10 terrace and Time Warp for sure…

With things starting to open back up, can you tell us what you have coming up this summer?

I have some amazing shows this year I can’t wait for such as a festival with Jamie Jones and Prok & Fitch, also a festival in Croatia which I’m excited to announce.. there’s so many!

Can you tell us one track that won’t leave your record bag this summer?

Baewatch! Haha!!
