South African house duo Deep Narratives, aka, Khayelihle Ngcobo and Mpumelelo Sithole have risen the ranks of their native scene to become key new school players. They hold radio residencies, have played at the country’s biggest events alongside the likes of Black Coffee and run their own popular parties. This song inspired us to become DJs, deep house was huge back then and sunset mixes always made sense with this on the tracklist. It’s just one of the songs that made us fall in love with deep house music.

On Sunday afternoons, this one used to be played very loud by the uncles from our neighbourhood. It’s a jazz song, with guitar sounds that you just can’t resist.
Deep Narratives – Umsindo
This song will forever be our favourite song. It changed the game for us, it’s a timeless banger.
Daft Punk – One More Time
This song inspired us a lot, it’s that one song you can’t leave out on your festival playlist.
Culoe De Song – No Contest
I’m lost for words with this song; although music is not contest, the elements in this one are on another level.
Black Coffee ft. Zano – Someday
This is a soul touching song that always reminds me to keep my head up and stay focused.
Imaani Found My Light (The Layabouts Vocal Mix)
This song always brings light into our life and gives us hope that we will make it someday.
Zonke – Ekhaya
This song reminds me of being young and living at home, when nothing mattered and you could just play, run around and have fun.
Mood II Swings – Can’t Get Away From You
We love the trippy bass and the snares used on this song, including the vocalist who sings perfectly around those elements to do what she does best behind the mic.
Black Box – Fantasy
We like the drumming on the song and how the sounds accommodate each other with the baseline, it reminds us back to how dope deep house was.
