Top100 DJ thoughts?
Everyone’s complaining about this and that, “the top 100 is full of ghost produced acts”, “Big Room is not to be considered in the DJ Mag”, “the top DJs play pre-recorded sets”. Our personal thought is that this is not a skills competition. It’s not a win or lose game. It’s a popularity chart and if people’s votes are creating this Top100 we should just assume that, like it or not, those are the most popular DJs. Then you can listen to your favourite music and DJs, even if they’re not at number one.
Party animal of the week?
Tommie Sunshine is definitely the most recognizable artist at ADE, we don’t know about his nightlife, but at the conference he’s always bringin that good old “weirdness” in the middle of the crowd!
Why is ADE so important in the dance community?
Because it’s all about business. The Winter Music Conference in Miami is all about parties, you have fun, you drink by the pool, you hang out with people in the show business, but you never talk about business. At ADE (probably because of the not-so-cheap entrance fee) everyone is 100% focused on business: since you invest in the conference, you want to come back home with some good deals. So it’s like a ONU reunion focused on music. Also, weather sucks in Amsterdam in October so it’s easier to focus on business instead of going out in the sunshine.
