The diynamic duo from Zurich get set for their busiest summer yet…
Interview : Dan Prince
The two Adrian’s…welcome back to DMCWORLD – where on planet dance are you today?
“Right now Dan, in our home in Zurich, but the next trip is already waiting.”
We all survived a brilliants Miami WMC a couple of weeks ago, you had sets including Ultra, Space and the insane Treehouse club – what were some of the highlights for you?
“All the parties were good, it’s just a bit too busy sometimes during WMC. We played at Treehouse exactly after WMC which was very cool. The club was full but the vibe seemed more intimate, great night.”
How has the US tour been going, have you noticed any changes in the crowds over there and their tastes in music?
“We are quite often in the US since we went there for the first time. We were in Chicago and New York after Miami. Both were dope, we like Spybar in Chicago a lot, and the Cityfox thing in New York speaks for itself.”
May 30th is a date in everyone’s diaries as Diynamic host their annual festival at the Amsterdam Bos…why is this such an important date for the electronic world in Europe?
“It’s rare that a label is able to host it’s very own festival. Last year was great and the reputation was to do another one this year. Its special because all the DIY acts come together on one date where you can experience so many different kinds of music and personalities.”
It is now only a few weeks until the Ibiza season begins. A huge drum roll! Where can we catch you this summer?
“As some people already noticed the Diynamic weekly nights won’t be at Sankeys anymore but we are happy to announce our residency at Cova Santa. “Diynamic Outdoor” will happen from end July. As the name says it’s outdoor which is quite rare in Ibiza nowadays. We are also gonna join Solomun 2 times at his +1 night at Pacha.”
Not many people know this, but Adriatique are really good at…
“Catching planes despite delays and checking out of hotels and any other unexpected things that may happen on weekends…!”
What is coming out next from you guys studio wise…?
“We are working on a few remixes and original stuff. There is a Cityfox EP in the pipeline…it’s called “Space Knights”. Of course we are already on the way to finish a new Diynamic record as well as a remix for Thyladomid. A few interesting collaborations for this year are planned too.”
Tell us about your studio set up, who excels in what department?
“Adrian Blond spends definitely more time in the studio. It’s always a process where we share ideas and finish everything together. As we live together and have the studio in our house it’s always running.”
You are big favourites in Brazil and especially at Warung. Why does the South American market have the best clubs and atmosphere on the planet right now?
“It’s not a secret that people from South America are very energetic. And Warung can definitely be special. We just had our Mini Festival there. Over 5000 people were raving into the morning….”
What is the last song you both heard today
“An upcoming track from Thyladomid which is part of his album. We are working on a remix right now.”
Who are some of the producers you are giving high fives to at the moment?
“It’s always hard to name someone out as there are quite a lot, otherwise we wouldn’t play music from them.”
What do you think are each other’s best qualities as a producer/DJ?
“The fact that we are totally different characters. This generates heat sometimes and can also be lethal when we do what we do.”
And finally…if you could change one annoying thing about each other…what would it be?
“To be more relaxed and the other way round, less relaxed about things!”
