Izaakson has earned a fine reputation in the scene over the last two decades as a DJ and producer with a stylish sound. He has spent the last 10 years solely focused on running his label Memoria Records, but after several invites to return to the forefront, he is now back playing and making fresh sounds once more. The first music of this new chapter has come on Memoria Records as well as Cardinal and Invade Records, and earlier this year, he launched the “IZIL” project with Massimo Girardi and Ilario Liburni. Seuil – Lost In The Soul Shower
Since its release, this track has been a permanent fixture in my DJ arsenal, and it’s one that will never be removed. While it may not see frequent play in today’s scene, I reserve it for those special moments when I discover the perfect venue and atmosphere to unleash its power.
Matthew Dear – Free To Ask (SIS Edit)
The initial 15 seconds of this track are mesmerizing, and when the kick comes in, it’s a truly awe-inspiring moment. Every element of the track resonates with me – the impeccable use of vocals, the sharpness of the synths slicing through, all presented in a remarkably minimalistic fashion that enhances its allure.
Mathew Jonson – Typerope
I could easily have selected 10 tracks from Mathew Jonson for my all-time favorites. As a producer, I believe this is the epitome of excellence. “Typerope” stands out as a masterpiece that demands to be experienced at high volume, unfolding its intricacies over its 8-minute duration with an abundance of musical elements.
Dan Andrei – Four Sticks
This track holds significant influence for me, marking one of the initial instances where I truly embraced the essence of pure minimalism. The bassline and the intricately programmed drums remain among my favorites, their enduring appeal shaping my appreciation for the genre.
Aril Brikha – Groove La Chord
“Groove La Chord” is undeniably iconic, traversing various DJ sets from house to techno and beyond. The track’s brilliance vividly showcases the exceptional skills of its producer, Aril Brikha, earning its status as a timeless gem appreciated across diverse electronic music genres.
Queen – Another One Bites the Dust
No doubt, my favorite list wouldn’t be complete without a Queen track. This particular one stands out as ahead of its time, considering the band’s rock roots in the 70s and 80s while seamlessly incorporating disco grooves and later embracing the use of synthesizers. Queen’s pioneering spirit in exploring diverse musical elements remains truly remarkable.
Pearl Jam – Alive
Pearl Jam, undoubtedly the best band of the 90s, led by the exceptional vocalist Eddie Vedder. “Alive” stands as a timeless anthem, serving as the soundtrack to the youth of countless individuals during that era.
Wu-Tang Clan – C.R.E.A.M.
Just as Pearl Jam dominated the rock scene in the 90s, Wu-Tang Clan reigned as the iconic hip-hop group of that era. Choosing a favorite among their tracks is a challenge, given the breadth of their influential catalog. Wu-Tang’s impact has resonated strongly in my later music career, drawing parallels between the elements of old-school hip-hop and electronic music.
