…return with the incredible ‘Sleepless’…a deeper vibe from the unstoppable Swedish duo

Interview : Dan Prince

Messrs Björklund and Furrer, welcome back to DMCWORLD…where in the world are we finding you today?

“Thanks for having us again! We are currently in San Francisco and Stockholm.”

Massive new night setting dancefloors alight on every continent tight now, talk us through the sound of the MASSIVE ‘Sleepless’…

“’Sleepless’ is a rather unique track for us since it is one of the first tracks where we really didn’t care in which genre the track would end up belonging to. We created it together with the High in Stockholm over this past winter and the magic was found instantly. It was amazing to work on it and the deeper vibe of it kind of came naturally. We were both just throwing ideas at each other since we the week before decided to enter a new chapter as producers and allow us our selves to create music that we really like no matter the genre. We would describe the sound of this track as deep fusion all though who really cares about genres if the music sounds good? We don’t.”

A line from the song…“It kills my heart to see, your eyes are no longer on me…” – so guys, are you too young to ever have your hearts broken?

“Yeah! Although Dan we do remember this one time when we wanted to have sushi but we had to go soundcheck instead. Damn, it was pretty rough!”

What is the current top 5 you are spinning…

Chocolate Puma – Step Back

Duck Sauce – NRG

Robin S – Show Me Love

Our new remix for A-Trak

Bastille – Pompeii (Audien Remix)

What is the 1 big event you are really looking forward to this summer?

“Summerburst in Sweden and also EDC LV…”

The last time we spoke you told me that your families “don’t really get our music, but there are one or two tracks they like”. Any improvement there yet, have they started to come round a little to your tunes?

“Yeah! We like to think that our newer tunes have more feeling and are more suited for listening rather than jumping.”

How much of an involvement does your manager and Ash have these days, I remember in the early days you sent him everything you had been working on for his thoughts…?

“We still work together on every track that we make. He is a very important part to our sound and development.”

What is the record that…

…always reminds you of your childhood?

“Haha – what’s that Bare Necessities song from the Jungle Book?”

…will ALWAYS gets you dancing?

“Alex Metric, Oliver – ‘Hope’.”

…you wish you had made yourself?

“Justice – ‘Genesis’.”

When you are on tour what do you miss the most from home?

“Swedish air! It’s so fresh.”

How do you think the US scene has developed in the last 12 months?

“It is still as big as it was 12 months ago, now though we feel that it is up the artists to develop the scene and keep it interesting.”

A quote from a superstar DJ… “I believe true DJing is actually an art, but it’s a dying art, as everyone is pushing the sync button…it’s a real shame when you see a ‘DJ’ plug his laptop in and call this DJing. Music will always evolve but sometimes not in the best way.” Do you agree?

“Not really, but people have to keep in mind that a DJ and an artist are two different things.”

Favourite ever Hip Hop tune?

“Wu-Tang Clan – Shame On A…”

And finally, what is coming out from you guys studio wise…

“We have tons of new stuff that we have been working really hard on. Lots of really cool unexplored sounds that we can’t wait to show. We are currently deciding what to follow up ‘Sleepless’ with!”
