Emanuel Kosh

Belgium back in the house

Welcome to DMCWORLD, a superb new track smashing The Buzz Chart to pieces. We feel ‘Pungaaa’ is going to be around all summer, a real grower. So you were born in Belgium, now setting the world alight with your tunes. How did you first get into music, who were the early artists you were jumping around in your pyjamas to?

“Around the age of 5 or 6 I was a big fan of Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode and then from the age of 12 I started listening to house music and I loved it right away. My favourite period is the whole 94-99 retro house era.”

How did you take your first steps into the music industry…

“After playing other people’s tracks, I decided it was time for people to start dancing to my own compositions, so that’s what I did!”

What was your first big break DJ wise?

“It was in 2000 at a big club in Brussels, before then I was DJing at private parties.”

If you hadn’t have become a producer and DJ, what would you have done for a career…

‘A professional footballer!”

How would you describe your style?

“I love everything about house music, but at the moment I’m preferring progressive house with trance influences. Melodic and punchy.”

Early DJ heroes?

“I love a lot of DJ because there is something good in all of them, but if I have to choose one, Tiesto!”

What is the state of the club scene in Belgium right now – where is good right now?

“It’s better in the north of Belgium because as you know, Belgium is separated into two communities: Flanders and Wallonie. The Flemish love house music while in the south they prefer commercial music. But the Flemish are very selective in their choice of DJ. The NUNU CLUB is very good at the moment.”

Did you know instantly you had created something special with ‘Make My Music’, the  track was at the top of the charts for nearly two months!

“I knew I had created something different yes, but did not expect such a buzz!”

What are the big events you are appearing at this summer?

“I have a lot of big room gigs in Belgium and Greece, no festivals as of yet, I’m hoping for next year.”

What is your greatest weakness?

“Mastering!”

What other genres of music outside of EDM do you listen to?

“It depends times I listen to jazz, new wave…there is good in every style of music that is currently done with love and feeling.”

What is the greatest record you have ever played to a dancefloor?

“Cafe Del Mar – Energy 52 – (Three ‘N One Mix).”

And finally, what is coming next studio wise from you?

“Emanuel Kosh ft. Alexandra – ‘Loverdose’ and a progressive house track with the great voice of Saskia.”
