Krysko – one of the main men behind the monster WHP
For twelve weeks – the city is their’s
Warehouse Project returns to Store Street for another twelve week series beneath the streets of Manchester
For many, this is the spiritual home of The Warehouse Project…the place where WHP cut it’s teeth
For those who never witnessed it, this is your opportunity
For those who were there first time round…you know what’s coming
Interview by Dan Prince
Welcome to DMCWORLD…where in the world are you today?
“Hey Dan! Just arrived back in sunny Manchester after our ‘We Love…’ WHP weekend at Space in Ibiza. Feeling fragile…”
Your memories of your first trip to The Warehouse Project…
“My first trip? I think I played the first record at Boddingtons Brewery, our first venue in 2006. A great space, but only lasted for one season due to well documented reasons. Memories of it? Mainly of hope…”
The track you remember from your first DJ set at Warehouse Project…
“Really? I’m struggling to remember what I played this weekend!”
Warehouse Project is one of the biggest clubs in the world because…
“It’s an ever changing nomadic rave generator, and it keeps people on their toes.”
The greatest DJ set you have ever witnessed at Warehouse Project?
“Far too many to pin down to just one, but consistently and for purely selfish reasons – Andrew Weatherall.”
The 1 tune that always reminds you of The Warehouse Project…
From a DJ’s point of view, are there more nerves before a set at this club compared to DJing anywhere else?
“Absolutely not. For me it’s like being at home…whether I’m on for the first hour in Room 3 before Levon Vincent or if I have to fill in for a DJ who’s flight is delayed in Room 1 playing 4 hours before Sven Vath. It’s all part of the fun for me.”
Your next release…
“MPMK – Edit series.”
Your best 3 gigs of the summer…
“Sub Club, Glasgow. ‘We Love…’ Space, Ibiza. Electric Elephant, Croatia.”
The tune of summer 2014
“Trus’Me – ‘I Want You’ (Alan Fitzpatrick rmx).”
The big 10 tunes in your box this weekend…
Ilo – “Love Of My Own” (Ilo edit) (LO FI EDITS) Luke Solomon – The Things Wot I Done Vol 1 (LET’S PLAY HOUSE) Mr Tophat & Art Alfie – Crab At The Green Hunter (KARLOVAK) Looking Forward To You – Take It To The Edge (MOOD HUT) K HAND – K Hand EP (ACACIA) STE SPANDEX/KICKIN PIGEON/METRODOME – The Paul Breitner EP (ROTHMANS) MK – Strider (Mojuba Underground) Ron Trent – Kids at Play (ELECTRIC BLUE) LAHJ – Miller SC (Crow Castle Cuts) AMADOU & MARIAM – Ce N’est Pas Bon (JD Twitch edit) (Autonomous Africa)
An up and coming producer to watch out for in 2015…
“There’s so many at the moment…the new stuff coming from Red Rack’Em, Trus’Me, Paranoid London and so many more. People can be ‘up and coming’ for a long time, then suddenly it’s their time.”
The festival moment of 2014…
“Secret Solstice Festival in Iceland, everything about it was exceptional. 24hr hour daylight though.. you’d be surprised the tricks it can play on the human mind.”
We come back to yours after the club…your Back To Mine playlist…
“We sit in silence.”
And finally – sum up The Warehouse Project in one sentence…
“A musical escape 100 yards from my front door.”
