Sander Van Doorn

The King Of Doorn smashes Miami Week and gets set for Don’t Let Daddy Know

An incredible Miami Week for Sander with an insane Doorn Pool Party. Playboy’s Hugh Hefner would have been happy with turn out. Dan Prince checks in with one of the most important artists in the electronic music world as his Phoenix continues to rise and we all get ready for the massive Don’t Let Daddy Know Tour…

Sander a huge welcome back to DMCWORLDanother great Miami Music Week under your belt that many are saying was the best yet. Lets kick off with the Doorn Pool Party at The National Hotel on Saturday. Man, that was some party huh?

That was an incredible party indeed! Really proud that my team and I were able to set up such a cool event during MMW 2015!

Loved the Sander Van Doorn beach towels that you filled Miami South Beach with a nice take home memory for some lucky people?

Yeah, nowadays you have to set yourself apart from other artists out there when it comes to merchandise and marketing, so we thought this could be a really cool way to do that. I mean, everyone’s on the beach already so why not use towels that we provide right?

What were some of the other parties and DJs you checked out?

I went to Spinnin’ Sessions on Nikki Beach, Mixmash and Firebeatz & Friends for example. I had a really good time at all of them!

And some of the records you heard over and over

‘Melody’ by Oliver Heldens, which is cool because I actually predicted it before MMW!

As I mentioned, many are calling it the best ever Miamiwhat do you put that down to?

I can’t say if it was the best one, I’ve been to quite some MMW’s already so hard to decide. I must say that this year was so much fun and I’m already missing it a lot!

Back in the world of normality (!!), the UK us rubbing its hands in glee at the prospects of April 25th when Dont Let Daddy Know rolls into town at the 5000 capacity Victoria Warehouse. Dude, this now iconic Dutch brand has really surprised so many people since it launched at Privilige in Ibiza in 2012 where they sold out the 10,000 tickets EVERY week for 2 summers before now embarking on a world tour, leaving Ibiza aside for a season. Why has this night become so massive?

Don’t Let Daddy Know has always been very good at creating a line-up that appeals to many people and the production that they have is just amazing as well. It’s such a well thought off night that there’s little to dislike.

What are your plans for Ibiza 2015?

Not so sure yet, but I’ll most likely spend some time on the island this summer!

What is the 1 song that always reminds you of Ibiza?

We’re going to Ibiza – Vengaboysb (!!)

From the Doorn Records side of things you have started the year so well. You have just enjoyed massive Beatport success with Phoenix your collab with R3hab. What is coming next from one of the worlds finest labels

I’ve got a bunch of stuff ready for you guys so you’ll have plenty to hear from me! As for DOORN, we’ll just keep doing what we’ve been doing, put out amazing tracks!

An up and coming producer to watch out for in 2015

He’s not that up and coming anymore, but I think that Oliver Heldens is going to do some pretty great things in 2015. Definitely one of the guys that’ll take over the festival-season.

You have had a busy winter touring, recent sell out shows at EDC Mexico, SasaZu Prague and Winter Wonderland in Finlandwhere have some of the highlights been for you?

The DOORN bus tour we did through Canada with Julian Jordan and Firebeatz was a lot of fun, will never forget it.

You have also been heavily touring the US these past few months, Carl Cox in an interview recently stated that he welcomed EDM to America, stating that sooner or later the clubbers will start branching out and discovering new avenues of dance music such as trance, drum n bass and house. What are your thoughts on the dance music invasion of the US right now?

I think it’s awesome! It’s really amazing to see that everyone has really picked it up, it’s huge everywhere and that’s what we’ve always tried to achieve. Spread the word, spread the music. Amazing to see that it’s happening now.

3 bucket list adventures you wanna do in your lifetime?

Roadtrip the entire Route 66

Visit one or more of the world wonders

See the Antarctic!

A festival you cannot wait for this summer?

It’s a bit cliché but Tomorrowland is still really important and special to me.

Another gig you appeared at recently was at Mood Indigo in Bombay. How knowledgeable are you finding the Indian audiences?

The Indian crowd is awesome! The scene is really exploding over there and I’m surprised at how well they know all of the tracks I play. It was a really cool gig!

And finally, what are the 5 big tunes in your box this weekend…

Andrew Bayer feat. Asbjørn – Super Human

    WasteLand – Maple

Quintino – Escape (Into The Sunset) (featuring Una)
