AMMONCONTACT
WITH VOICES
NINJA TUNE

Like some wayward broadcast from the further reaches of electronic music, Ammoncontact’s third long player plays and feels just like an eclectic radio show, shifting between strung out jazz and hip-hop beats, house tempos and African hoedowns.  One minute poetical musings and uplfiting vocals missives, the next earthy instrumentals or techno jams.  That can make getting a handle on Ammoncontact (LA duo Carlos Nino & Fabian Ammon) a bit tricky sometimes, but there’s no doubt that’s part of the deal.  These guys seem to be happy to let their cohorts and guests (of which there are many, including Lateef, Cut Chemist and Dwight Trible) take centre stage.  And this approach results in an astonishingly good, mature listen, repaying listeners who are willing to take the time and enjoy the journey, uniting the whole under one infectious vibe. A voice so unique you’d think it was a crime.  Check it out before someone decides it is.
