Dinamo Azari may have broken free from his massively successful ‘Azari & III’ moniker but what he hasn’t left behind is the quality and authenticity of his house music. ‘Estranged’ is great stuff, widening the net to include more vocal performers but still keeping a close link to all the good bits of what went before. That means we have classic vocal house, often with a seriously soulful and sensual flavour. Azari really knows how to write music for the night, and a lot of it feels like it was conceived on a hot, sweaty dancefloor. ‘Victim’ is a cracker, a wonderfully moody track with a robotic ‘into the groove’ hook line that leaves its mark, while on ‘Hacienda’ Azari collaborates with Nick Fiorucci to update his original to a piece of thrilling modern day house. ‘Enter’ is a quicker track with a brilliant, pulsing bass – typical of Azari’s ability to show his listeners a good time. Strongly recommended.
