Disjokke takes a significant jump from his ‘Staying In’ album, broadening his spectrum from atmospheric house music to something even more intriguing. On ‘En Fin Tid’ (English translation ‘A Happy Time’), there are indications of his intent from the opening, sundrenched ‘Reset And Begin’, which chugs along in a manner Lindstrøm would be proud of. This record is in no way similar to Diskjokke’s compatriot, mind, for he moves off to explore Detroit techno in the weird ‘Bastard Alliance’, with its harmonic twists and turns, before alighting at an ambience Jean Michel Jarre would be proud of later in the record. Diskjokke is developing into an artist we ought to keep an eye on – and on this evidence, several musical directions remain open to him. When put together this is a fine piece of work, best heard with summer sunshine and a dancefloor at the very least!
