The Rapture have always been about making cracking dance music with a spiky edge, so it makes total sense to get Philippe Zdar of Cassius in to produce their third album. It works a treat, too, for there are some surprising stylistic twists thrown in to a recipe that still manages to preserve what has made them so vital in the first place. Luke Jenner reaches for the heights on the title track, which sounds like nothing else the band have done before with its winding bass line and gospel tinge, a theme also explored on ‘Come Back To Me’, but on ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ the urge to sing along is overwhelming, the catchy chorus bizarrely similar to Sisqo’s ‘Thong Song’. The feeling here is that The Rapture are really starting to flex their muscles and try ever more original stuff, without losing the ability to make you get sweaty on the dancefloor. More power to their jagged elbows.
