Change – Reach For The Sky: The Change Anthology – (Groove Line Records)

Shut the door. Turn off the lights. If you’ve been waiting for this then what you are about to receive will make you truly thankful. Conceived by Jacques Fred Petrus and brought to fruition by producer/arranger Mauro Malavasi and bassist Davide Romani the collective titled Change soon stamped their combined talents all over the Dance world with timeless tracks like ‘Paradise’ and ‘A Lover’s Holiday’. Then they did the same with mainstream hits such as ‘Searching’ which featured Luther Vandross on vocals by combining Italian flair with a New York City edge that also saw songs like the superlative ‘Angel In Pocket’ feature at Larry Levan’s Paradise Garage. This compilation covers the groups output between: 1980 to 1985 across two CD’s complete with full length versions etc. They never really shied away from killer guitar and bass riffs, exhilarating vocal lines brought to you by the likes of Jocelyn Brown plus tough production values, although the first CD does feel more relevant and inspirational for today.
