MISS KITTIN
LIVE AT SONAR
NOVAMUTE

Miss Kittin’s latest representation to the world is a public service in that it captures what was, by all accounts, one of those classic landmark appearances that people gush about in you-had-to-be-there fashion. Her afternoon set at last summer’s Sonar Festival is quite a remarkable voyage, essentially presenting her main talent as not giving a shit about playing the game, just being herself. Luckily that’s an intriguing place to be as she uncurls a string of electronic forays which, on the surface, may seem disparate, but welded together with Kittin’s own interjections and a splattering of her own material, work to lethal effect. Her own back catalogue is represented by such as ‘Professional Distortion’ [in its mangled Otto Von Shirach mutation], ‘1982’ and ‘Stock Exchange’, with the lady singing new lines. Elsewhere, you can find the Orb, Villalobos, Arpanet, Aphex and even a technical hitch getting cheered by the rammed crowd. Wish you were there.
