AFRIKA BAMBAATAA AND UB40 ‘RECKLESS’ (EMI)
“I bought pretty much anything Bam did back in the 80’s as I was an obsessed old school b-boy! This track slipped past most kids into hip hop back then as it was quite a slapfunk groove and not very electro sounding at all. I loved it back then and still glow when I pop it on the deck now”.

RJD2 ‘HERE’S WHATS LEFT’ (ALTERED VIBES)
“This one I picked up a few years ago before the whole hype blew up on him. I dint know anything about him back then and very little even now but the vibes of the tune are so deep and emotional. Spot on music”.

PESHAY ‘PIANO TUNE’ (GOOD LOOKING)
“The perfect tune from the ambient drum and bass era. This still gives me goose bumps!!! Peshay use to able to create such mystical, conceptial tracks. Firing”.

ANNIE ROSS ‘CATFOOD’ (DECCA)
“Released in 1971 this is some off the wall freestyle jazz with a funk backbone. Demented lyrics but a groove to die for”.

PHAROAH SANDERS ‘YOU’VE GOT TO HAVE FREEDOM’ (THERESA)
“I got hooked on the Pharoah thanks to Gilles Petersons’s KissFM radioshow who use to support this track heavily back in the early 90’s. This tune is as deep as the atlantic and like most tunes in this list, it gets my hairs standing on end!!!”

FOZBEE AND COOZ ‘FREE YOUR MIND’ (ANOTHER PLANET)
“A total classic tune from the early 90’s rave scene. I am fortunate enough to have stockpiled a good few copies of this EP over the years and know that when the general public catch onto it, this baby will rocket in price. These guys only did 3 releases and all of them are bangers!”

GOLDIE ‘ANGEL/SAINT ANGEL’ (SYTHNETIC)
“Probably the first conceptial d&b track, but boy, this fucker rocks hard! With vocals from goddess Diane Charlemagne who we were lucky enough to have join us on out Teamplayers album, you can not go wrong with this tune. This is a track to play all those d&b haters whilst giving them the middle finger. Classic”.

HIJACK ‘THE HORNS OF JERICHO’ (LP WARNERS)
“I know, this is a whole album, but if you are coming back to mine you are staying there for more than a cup of tea!!! This is the best ever UK hip hop album and group. No one has touched K Slys vocals and Supremes production since they sprang up on vinyl in early 88. An incredible group”.

THE FORERUNNERS ‘GENUINE IMITATION LIFE’ (KEY)
“This is a track from a christian LP I have that came out in the 1970’s from here in the UK. The lyrics are about how we buy into the mass media process and the way it sucks the life out of us and how we always want the next new product. Basically, how people morals have been corrupted by such like. I dunno, it kinda stikes a chord with me as I too am cautious of those in life who think more of themselves than others. The tune itself is a heavy banger and one of those rarities I have lurking in my 10,000+ record collection”.

AQUASKY AND MEAT KATIE ‘OVERNEATH’ (PASSENGER)
“Quite often when friends come over they are keen to hear what we as Aquasky have been up to. This is the first single from our new Teamplayers album and pretty much sums up what we are about these days musically. The track was written with the wonderful Meat Katie and has become quite a hit in the scene which we are very honoured by”.
