Berghain’s very own Marcel Dettmann takes the reins for the latest Fabric compilation in the series – and he doesn’t disappoint, blending a pleasing variety of house and techno, largely from the darker side, but in moods that very from deep to incredibly energetic. Into the latter category fall the storming Answer Code Request track ‘Transit 0.2’, the cutting bass of ‘Radar’, Dettmann’s very own cut in Byetone remix form, and the pounding beat of Dettmann’s ‘Lightworks’. It’s not all full on energy though, as we get some warmth from the closing Vril track ‘XXXII’ and the lovely whoosh that brings Francois X’s ‘Rising’ to the surface, giving way to some quality techno that reeks of Detroit. Dettmann has an acute ear for the development of a mix, and even in the confines of just over an hour he paces this one to great effect, creating another mix you need to add to the Fabric collection!
