Sven Vath’s annual Ibiza celebration returns to brighten up the darkest nights, and does so with another pair of mixes to document the 16th season. The first mix goes deep to start with, some lovely mellow stuff from DJ Koze and Metaboman gradually gathering pace to the robust house of Mattheis’ ‘Prism 2’ and the starry-eyed ‘Drifting’ from Jacek Sienkiewicz. CD2 goes straight for the no-nonsense techno, and it’s here that Deetron’s ‘The Believer’, Floorplan’s vivid ‘Ritual’ and Gary Beck’s reassuringly heavy ‘Leo’ get to flex their muscles. Vath’s mixing throughout is on the money, all the way through to Petar Dundov’s ‘Synchrotonic’ – by which time you’ll be more than ready to go round again.
