System 7 are well versed in the art of chilling out – Steve Hillage in particular has been a connoisseur for many years – so they make an obvious choice for Platipus to continue their ‘Art of Chill’ series. On this double CD lush, blue textures slowly evolve and change like shapes in a lava lamp, to hypnotic effect. The duo draw from their own work, with an Alex Paterson collaboration ‘Flex-e-fun’ leading into the striking vocal of Jam’n. With blissful moments from Pitch Black, Vector Lovers and Tosca, the eclectic mix keeps the attention – but helps the mind drift away at the same time.
