As champions of the hallowed Tribal back catalog, they have released their first commercially available compilation. Old fans of Tribal will be enraptured as the mix moves smoothly through the vaults, yet digging deep into the crates for unreleased dubs and rarities. Yes Danny Tenaglia, Eric Kupper, Liberty City, Junior Vasquez, The Daou, Size Queen, Funky Green Dogs, Salt City Orchestra, Ride Committee and Deep Dish all feature so the selection and a&r credentials are set in solid gold.
New additions to the roster include the disco sleaziest ‘Sweat’ from Stereogamous (reviewed some months ago on these pages) and The Carry Nation and The Cucarachas – ‘The Oracle’ which is a shimmy shimmy disco drop par excellence. The mix itself bangs, bounces, bleeps, bumps and grinds through chunky underground New York dubs and acid house washes, then stomps and snaps with bitching acappellas, fresh loops that bind it all together and bad ass dubs to roll it on like a blacked out hummer in a tribal house drive by and does all of this without breaking sweat or missing a beat. Like the timeless archive material contained within, it’s a collectors item to add to your soon to be expanding Tribal section. Respect to DJ Will Automagic and DJ Nita for taking the time to trawl through mountains of DATS to lovingly collate and create a tracklisting that reminds us exactly why and how Tribal made – and will continue to make us dance to their beat.
