Structures Mixed By John Digweed
Bedrock

Bedrock are moving from strength to strength as a label, a feeling reinforced by the impact of this excellent compilation offered by John Digweed. As well as two tightly mixed CDs of quality house, we get a DVD following him on his last tour of South America – which ties in nicely with the ever-expanding international profile that Bedrock seems to be getting with its artists. As is often the case with these compilations CD1 is broad and spacey, Luis Junior kicking us off with a beautifully weightless piece before the mix finds its feet with Dirty Mongrel and King Roc, pushing forward with real purpose from then on. CD2 gets motoring right from the off, with Guy J, Marco Bailey and Digweed himself heavily involved, before some clever mixing wraps things up with the Sistema mix of Guy J’s ‘Esperanza’, effectively bringing the mix full circle. Digweed has so much experience with delivering this sort of DJ mix he knows which buttons to press, so this is a clear case of something not being broken – and not needing to be fixed, either.
